Customer management plays a crucial role in running the ecommerce business. Thus as a store owner, this is the basic thing you need to get the hang of. This blog will guide you on how to create a customer in the backend and assign a customer to a customer group.

How to Create a New Customer Account in Magento Admin Panel

Step 1: Go to Customers > All Customers.

Step 2: Click Add New Customer button to create a new customer profile.

 

Step 3: Customer Information > Account Information. Fill in the required fields.

Step 4: Customer > Addresses. Click Add New Address button, fill in the required fields.

Step 5: Click Save Customer button.

How to Assign Customer to Customer Group

Step 1: Go to Customers > All Customers.

 

Step 2: Select customer, then choose to Assign a Customer Group in Actions.

Step 3: Assign the selected customer to a customer group (3 default options: general, wholesale, and retailer). Then, confirm the change.

Manage Customer in Magento 2

You can manage all customer-related information on Customer View Page.

You can check all orders that the customer has placed, billing agreements, reviews or wishlist items. Besides, there are also many actions you can do on this page: create an order for the customer from the backend, reset the password, force sign-in or make any changes. After finishing any action, remember to click Save Customer button.
